The study looked at the impact of two different diets on women with gestational diabetes. One was a conventional diet high in fat and low in carbohydrates, while the other was a CHOICE diet with more complex carbohydrates. Both diets were eucaloric with similar fiber content. The study found that the CHOICE diet resulted in improved metabolic markers associated with gestational diabetes and insulin resistance compared to the conventional diet. Some metabolites, such as aspartate and triglycerides, decreased on the CHOICE diet but increased on the conventional diet. The study suggests that the CHOICE diet may be a more beneficial dietary treatment for gestational diabetes.
